Russian antitrust opens case against Microsoft on Kaspersky claim
MOSCOW, Nov 10 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has opened a case against U.S. giant Microsoft jn the grounds of abusing its dominant position on the market, the authority said on Thursday.
The case was initiated by local antivirus firm Kaspersky Lab, which complained to the antimonopoly service that Microsoft had cut the compatibility adaptation time of antivirus software of third-party developers for operating system Windows 10 to six calendar days from two months.
“As Microsoft itself develops antivirus software Windows Defender, which turns on automatically, if a third-party’s program does not manage to adapt to Windows 10, such operations lead to groundless advantages of Microsoft on the software market. Our task is to ensure equal conditions for all market players,” the antitrust service’s Deputy Director Anatoly Golomolzin said.
